The candidate of the Mega Party of Nigeria in the Ekiti State governorship election, Mr. Bisi Omoyeni, has said he will work with the entire labour force in the state to improve the revenue profile of the state and create wealth for the entire people of the state. Omoyeni, who is a former Group Managing Director of Wema Bank, made the promise at an interactive session with the state chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress in Ado Ekiti, on Wednesday.
According to a statement, the MPN candidate said there was poverty in Ekiti because previous governments in the state did not know how to transform the assets of the state into wealth. He said, “I gave a proposal to the current government in the state on how to turn our dead assets into wealth and put money into the hands of our people through land titles and certificate of occupancy, but the government refused to do anything about it.
“More than 95 per cent of houses in our state and landed properties do not have titles and certificates of occupancy. If you have a house or land without a C of O, it means such property is useless to you because you cannot use it to access credit from banks. The total banking sector credit in Ekiti is less than 0.5 per cent.”
