A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court has arraigned a 30-year-old farmer, Ishak Aminu, for allegedly raping his neighbour’s five-year-old daughter.

The police had charged Aminu, a resident of Durumi Village Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, with defilement.

The prosecution counsel, Insp. According to a NAN report earlier, Chidi Leo had said that Aminu committed the offense on Oct. 28 in his residence.

Leo told the court that Aminu had lured the five-year-old girl into his room and defiled her.

He further said the offence contravened Section 209 of the Penal Code Law of Kaduna State.

Delivering the ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Benjamin Hassan, refused to take Aminu’s plea for want of jurisdiction to entertain the matter.

Hassan ordered the police to return the case file to the Kaduna State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice and demanded that the suspect be remanded in a correctional centre.

Hassan adjourned the matter until Nov. 17.
