President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday met with Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House in Abuja.
The meeting which held to discuss party and national issues as attended by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari as well as some APC governors. Those who couldn’t be physically present at the meeting joined it virtually.
In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, he stated that the President had at the meeting expressed his satisfaction at the ruling of the APC interim leaders.
Shehu made this known in a statement titled “President Buhari interacts with APC governors, commends party caretakers.”
The party’s National Executive Committee had in June dissolved the National Working Committee then appointed the Yobe State governor and others as the chairman and members of the caretaker committee as well as of the extraordinary National Convention Committee.
The President stated that he was very impressed with the work being done by the caretaker committee, Shehu quoted President Buhari saying “I am pleased with the chairman and the work of the committee. He is highly mobile in the efforts to coordinate and strengthen the party. I am happy with his personal efforts.”
Shehu also quoted the President’s appreciation of the efforts of the APC governors towards successfully conducting primaries in PDP and APC.
Atiku Bagudu Governor of Kebbi State and Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, on behalf of other governors, thanked Buhari for taking the right steps to resolve the crises in the party.
The statement read “the APC governors also commended the President for his handling of security issues and the economy, noting in particular, the success recorded in pulling the country out of the 2016 economic recession as well as the ongoing management of the COVID-19 pandemic.
