President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were welcomed by President Muhammadu Buhari as they assumed office.
He expressed hope that their presidency would represent a high point for Nigeria and Africa in terms of cooperation and assistance.
In a statement made by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari congratulated the leaders, and the whole nation, on the smooth transition.
The Nigerian leader said that it was a major historical turning point for democracy as a form of government and for the larger global community.
“We look forward to the Biden presidency with great hope and optimism for strengthening of existing cordial relationships, working together to tackle global terrorism, climate change, poverty and improvement of economic ties and expansion of trade.”

As they jointly discuss problems of common concern, Buhari shared optimism of an age of great positivity between Nigeria and America.
The victors of the November 3 presidential race, Biden and Kamala, took the oath of office at the Capitol on Wednesday.
