On Tuesday, the Kaduna State High Court adjourned the trial of Ibrahim El Zakzaky, the patriarch of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), and his companion, Zeenat, until March 8 and 9.
NAN notes that the adjournment followed the decision of Justice Gideon Kurada in an appeal by the defendant’s lawyer, Mr Eddie Inegedu, representing Mr Femi Falana, calling for time to preview a video brought to court by two witnesses from the prosecution.
Inegedu told newsmen during the trial that one of the two witnesses brought by the defense was accepted by the judge.
Recalling that Justice Kurada had directed Zeenat, who tested positive for COVID-19, to be evacuated to a government-approved isolation and treatment facility on Jan. 25.
The defendant’s lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, forwarded the test findings to the court and argued that Zeenat, the second defendant in the trial who tested positive for the virus, had sufficient medical attention.
