A fire that broke out in a hospital in Southern Iraq that was treating Covid 19 patients killed about 70 people.
A tragedy that puts a spotlight on the country’s healthcare system that he struggled to cope with after being weakened by decades of wars and sanctions.
According to Reuters, More than 100 people were injured in the devastating fire that broke out at the hospital in the Southern Iraqi city of Nassiriya after sparks from faulty wiring spread to an oxygen tank which then exploded.
Several patients were stuck in the hospital after the fire. The manager of the hospital of health and civil defence managers have been suspended by Iraq Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.
