Four people have been confirmed dead in an accident at Obosi, along Onitsha-Owerri road in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra involving three vehicles.
The accident was confirmed by the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra, Mr. Andrew Kumapayi, to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Monday, said the accident occurred “at about noon.”
“Preliminary findings show that it was caused by brake failure and loss of control,” Kumapayi said.
Kumapayi also noted that a total of 13 persons – eight males and five females – were involved in the accident, and four of them died in the crash.
He pointed out that four persons, who sustained injuries, were rushed to Unity Hospital, Obosi, by the FRSC rescue team from Oraifite Unit Command. The bodies of the deceased had been deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
The FRSC official urged motorists to regularly maintain their vehicles and ensure they meet minimum safety standards before taking them on the road.
