The Kano State Government led by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has announced a date for the reopening of universities and other higher institutions of learning in the state.
This date set for October 26 was disclosed by the Commissioner for Higher Education in the state, Mariya Mahmoud. Mahmoud noted that Governor Ganduje had approved the reopening of universities on October 26 for continuation of 2019/2020 academic session according to a NAN report.
Mahmoud disclosed this date during a news conference in Kano on Monday.
She said that the decision to re-open the institutions was reached during a meeting with stakeholders, adding that the government had decontaminated the schools.

Mahmoud also said that the government would provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to all the institutions to protect students and check the spread of coronavirus.
NAN reports that primary and secondary schools in the state resumed on Oct. 12 and the state government had fumigated the schools and distributed PPEs to over 8,500 public and private schools.
