The Golden State Warriors claimed their second title in two years as they defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 129-120. The win handed Golden State a 4-1 victory in the series.
Kevin Durant once again put in an extraordinary performance, scoring a team high 39 points and being named the MVP of the finals. He becomes the first player with five straight 30+ point games in the finals since Shaquille O’Neal.
Golden State also broke records along the way becoming the first team to score at least 100 points in every game of the series.
Lebron led his Cavaliers with a game high 41 points but it wasn’t enough to upset the dominant Warriors. Lebron also becomes the first player to average a triple double in the NBA finals.
The Warriors will start planning their victory parade while the Cavaliers will head back to Cleveland to regroup. Many suspect a rematch in next June’s finals is a given.
