Former Inspector General of Police, Mohammad Dahiru Abubakar has called for development of indigenous security philosophy to tackle the rising security threat in the country.
He spoke at the ongoing round table discussion on security challenges in Sokoto and neighbouring states.
He says Nigeria need a different approach from the conventional security in place to tackle the new wave of crime in the country
He call for more coordination and collaboration among the various security agencies as he advise the government to invest on intelligence and effective border security.
Chairman of the event and Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar advocated for more constitutional role for traditional rulers and special recognition of religious leaders because of their strategic roles in peace building in the country.
