The Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, Katsina has been shut down indefinetely by the university senate due to the crisis rocking the university.
The decision was made after an emergency meeting was held and an announcement was made by the chairman of the senate Armiyau Hamisu Bichi. A circular signed by Bichi who is also the acting vice chancellor of the school attributed the closure to security reasons.
The students of the varsity were required to vacate the school immediately.It was revealed that the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Abdu Kaita , who is currently on suspension, appeared on the campus on Friday with a high court ruling disregarding the suspension.
His presence on the university campus led to a mild protest among the students on the campus. Foreseeing the breakdown in law and order on the campus, the university senate held an emergency meeting to shut down the university indefinitely.
The situation remains tense on the campus as workers anticipate another round of crisis with the Vice chancellor vowing to resume work on monday.
