A man armed with a knife almost ran down a group of school children near an army barracks in Canterbury. There were no reported injuries during the incident.
Eyewitnesses said the man drove his car while holding out a knife through the window. As many as 20 children had to flee the scene as the man sped towards them. It was later reported that the driver was aiming at a man he had an argument with.
One eye witness said ‘I saw a man drive at high speed, stop his car and step out. He told the other guy he was going to stab him with a kitchen knife.’
She added that the man pushed the driver back into his car, at which point the suspect appeared to drive off. The driver then spun back and tried to run this man and all that was around him down.
Although no one is believed to have been directly attacked or hurt, a few other vehicles are thought to have been damaged.
The man has now been arrested, and remains in police custody.
