The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has warned against a COVID-19 explosion in the country due to the deliberate refusal of some states to carry out adequate testing.
The NCDC Director-General, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, made this known in an interview on Arise TV.
Ihekweazu pointed out that some states were unable to ascertain the number of COVID-19 cases in their domain.
He expressed delight that NCDC can establish that fewer cases were being reported in the last six months.

Ihekweazu added that he was especially impressed by the progress made in a few states, especially Lagos.
However, the NCDC boss said many states are not learning from others, so they are not testing enough and not finding enough COVID-19 cases.
“I am very worried that we might find an explosion in those states, which would then affect the rest of the country again,” Ihekweazu lamented.
