Ndubisi Kanu, the former military governor of the states of Imo and Lagos, is buried.
The former Rear Admiral, 78, passed away after a brief illness in a hospital on Wednesday.
His region of birth, Ugwunta in Isukwuato, Abia State Local Government, is in a mood of mourning.
During the civil war, Kanu served on the Biafran side and, at the end of the war in 1970, was reabsorbed into the Nigerian military.
The deceased was appointed a member of Murtala Muhammed’s governing Cabinet, the Supreme Military Council, in July 1975, as lieutenant commander.
He was a part of the Progressive National Coalition of (NADECO). The group which fought for the revalidation of the late Moshood Abiola’s annulled June 12, 1993, Mandate for the presidency.
Kanu was one of those who signed an ultimatum to revalidate Abiola’s mandate and hand over power to the General Sani Abacha regime.
