The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has declared that it is not applicable for any national identity card or national identity number (NIN) issued prior to 2012 in Kwara State.
Mr. Paul Popoola, acting NIMC State Coordinator, who announced this at Ilorin University, stated that NIN registration in the early 2000s had been made inappropriate by the legislation that established the commission.
Although calling on Nigerians who are still to acquire the card to do so without further delay, Popoola clarified that NIMC registration centers across Kwara will remain open to catch state residents every working day.
“The university has been most magnanimous and visionary for giving the commission a space within its premises to capture interested citizens since 2014,’’ he said.
