In the Ikorodu region of Lagos State, one individual was found dead following a building collapse.
Besides the deceased victim and three other people trapped beneath the rubbles, a male and a female were rescued after the two-story structure in Ikorodu caved in.
After the building caved in, dwellers and the community response team rescued the three people trapped beneath the rubbles, two men and a woman.
According to residents, the ill-fated two-story structure was located on 97, Lagos Road, Haruna axis of Ikorodu, and it collapsed at night when some of the tenants were preparing to lay their bodies to rest after a long day’s activity.
According to reports, the injured individuals were taken to Ikorodu General Hospital, where medical practitioners were struggling for their lives.
Officials from the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) had ordered residents to vacate the building before it caved in, according to reports. The building had failed an integrity test conducted to determine its habitation status.
