The police in borno state have confirmed five female suicide bombers killed at least 16 people and wounded 11 in Kofa community which is located along Maiduguri- Konduga road.
State police spokesman Victor Isuku said the attacks took place in Kofa community which is about 8 km from Maiduguri the capital of Borno state.
Isuku said the first suicide bomber detonated near a mosque, killing seven persons, while the second detonated in a house killing five persons.
Two other suicide bombers detonated within the same vicinity, killing themselves only as they were were thwarted by security personnel.
Borno has been one of the state worst hit by an insurgency that has killed more than 20,000 people and forced about 2.7 million people to flee their homes since 2009.
