The Rivers state elections petition tribunal has declared all progressive congress candidate Andrew Uchendu at the winner of the Rivers east Senatorial district December 10 rerun election.
The tribunal in its ruling sacked a Peoples democratic party (PDP) Senator George Sekibo who represents Rivers East at the senate.
The Tribunal said it decision was based on the fact that Uchendu won the lawful majority vote cast during the rerun election.
The tribunal ordered Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return given to sekibo and Issue same to Uchendu.
Uchendu had approached the tribunal with a petition asking the court to declare him winner of the poll. He alleged that INEC failed to take note of results in some wards and polling units before declaring Sekibo the winner of the polls.
