WAEC Elects New Chairman

Ato Essuman, a Ghanaian scholar, has been elected as the 20th chairman of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

The election was held at the Council’s 69th meeting, which was held virtually from March 22 to 26.

Mr. Abiodun Adukoju, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, confirmed that Essuman will take over for three years from Mr. Baboucarr Bouy of Gambia.

The top three students in the West African region’s 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Review (WASSCE) out of 2,122,844 were also recognized.

Master Cecil Tetteh Kumah (first), Master Godfred Aseda Obeng (second), and Miss Afua Manukure Ansah were the members of the trio, who were all from Ghana.
